Because everyone

deserves to have a Christmas.

Our Whānau Box is all about bringing people together around the table to share a special meal at Christmas. This December, Elim along with community partners will be preparing up to 1,000 boxes to donate to people across the city.

FAQ’s

  • A box and chiller bag full of food items.

  • Contents that feed a family of four for a meal on Christmas day. In 2022 the theme to the box is Kiwi BBQ - items you might typically have at a BBQ but you don't necessarily need one to enjoy it.

  • We source items from various suppliers. Since 2021 we have partnered with with Meat Direct, Cowells Pavlova, Arobake, Seasoned and Dressed caterers and Moana Fisheries to name a few!

  • In 2021 we donated 500 boxes. For 2022 we were able to donate 700 boxes.
This year we’re hoping to donate 1000 boxes to families in need!

  • To make up a Whānau Christmas Box - all the food and packaging, it costs $100 for each box.

  • We do not receive any grants or funding at the moment - we are relying solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations who are wanting to participate.

  • Agencies request a number of boxes for the families that they work with, as they are aware of the need. They collect the boxes from us on the packing day and they deliver them to the families they work with.

  • In 2021 we partnered with DCM, Kāinga Ora, Family Works, Wellington Police, Elim Porirua, Natone Park School, Bishop Viard College, Wellington Women's Boarding House, Women's Refuge, Evolve Youth, Youth Services (Ratonga Taiohi), Holy Family School, Capital Care Health Centre, Mt Cook School, Elim International Kids Childcare Centre, Te Kōhanga Reo.
